There is a vast number of anime’s and its genre’s out there and these does not exclude martial arts. This genre is not as explored as other genres in anime but it has certainly left its marks on the anime history. Today I’m writing about some of these animes and I’m expecting you to check them out because they’ll be ‘sugoi’.
Due to the fact that I haven’t watched up to twenty martial art anime, I’ve made a ranked list for you. So without further ado here they are;
1. Baki
Baki is the epitome of core and epitome of martial arts, theirs is less of martial arts and more of brutal fights. Though the basic is still martial arts but they really beat the heck out of their enemies. One might think that Baki is just an ordinary fighting anime but it greatly exceeds that.
It has an exceptional animation and the storyline is simple but engaging. This anime tells of a boy who aims to beat his father who is currently holding the title of the strongest living creature on earth. He meets and fights various strong opponents to hone his skills.
2. God of high school
God of high school starts of as an intensely epic martial art anime, it has various kinds of fighting style, judo, kung-Fu, karate, boxing, street fighting and the likes. I’ve previously written about this anime as a recommendation, it is just so good, you can’t forget about it.
Participants fights for the title of ‘god of high school’ where the winner will be granted any wish he/she desires. Thigs later become complicated as there are ulterior motives and the use of gods, demi-gods and demons to gain power. It is a nice anime and I think you should watch it.
3. Kenichi the master disciple
This is one martial anime with a comedy genre. The anime has nice build but the animation is not so good, like the likes of one piece, dragon ball and reborn. It tells of an extremely weak boy with the desire to get stronger, luckily he meets a girl who has trained under several masters. He is opportune to be the student of about five different masters, learning karate, boxing, judo, tai-chi etc. he trains to become the ultimate disciple and to defeat all who threatens him.
4. Samurai x
To be honest, this was one of the very first anime I watched as a full blown otaku, the soundtrack is insane, it has incredible visualization and animation and it has god-tier fights.
The backstory is well built the protagonist is badass and every other thing fuses together to make this anime as good as it is. Its story follows that of a young man kenshin, who was formerly known as ‘batossai the man slayer’ a warrior strong enough to cut down all who opposes him. He makes a change and decides not to kill again but his past still comes back to haunt him, will he be driven back to the insane cold-blooded killer he once was?, watch to find out.
5. One punch man
Although this is not a core martial arts anime, it does have it good side, it has probably the best martial arts fighting scenes in anime existence, it has tough characters, good animation and even better soundtrack to make anyone jump while watching it…...just like I did. Some badass characters that use martial arts are; garo, metal bat, bang, suiryu and the others.
6. Hajime no ippo
Believe it or not, boxing is martial arts. And this anime proves just how awesome it can be, that is…from the side where you are not the one being punched. This anime, although it is sport it also displays martial arts in a different level. It has epic fights, great but simple storyline, great mc’s and side characters. It is definitely a must watch.
7. Kengan Ashura
This anime had me glued to the screen for hours without moving. Although the animation is not that great, I’ll still relate this anime to Baki based on the fact that they have similar fighting style. In the present world companies hire trained martial artist to fight in what is known as ‘Kengan matches’ to gain properties or funds. Ohma tokita is the badass main character that fights in this battle just for the purpose of meeting a long lost enemy who killed his master.
YOU CAN CHECK;
Baki hanma
