I've been watching anime for quite some time, I'll say approximately more than seven years. and of course, I've been watching lots of anime throughout that time and even to this very day.
although I don't watch as much anime as I used to. not only do I have a lot more on my hands but I get the feeling that anime quality has been depreciating over time, I don't mean in art or quality of the animation but in the depth of the storyline. It has been overshadowed by constant fan service. yes... some anime has to deal with ecchi or harem or maybe even hentai but the displeasing thing about anime these days is that you'll see an action or adventure anime series with so much fan service that it becomes disgustingly annoying. But not all anime is like that some have managed to pass and even showed tremendous potential.
Today's post is going to be analyzing the anime series Naruto.
it was undoubtedly one of the first anime I had watched alongside bleach, dragon ball z, and hunter x hunter.
I came to realize that I don't see Naruto the same way I did back in the day in essence it's not that pleasing to me, maybe it's because of the long time I have spent without looking at the anime or maybe it's because of its toxic fandom. but one fact remains Naruto is a good anime for anyone who newly gets into anime. it's something to watch, it's good and it's inspiring, it's what you'll refer to as the classic shounen anime especially it being one of the big three.
if I were to find faults in the anime I could pick out some that are probably overlooked by the fandom. stuff like;
- the fact that the anime tried to portray naruto as poor with nothing but a dream and his hard work to rely on but that isn't the case as they even referred to him as the child of prophecy. if I were to pick someone who had it tough then I would pick rock lee but instead of building him up they completely murdered his potential leaving him to die off as one of those unimportant characters.
- another fault I would find in the series is its power system. to be honest the anime just gave some clans cheat codes.
if you're not an Uzumaki, jinjuriki, Uchiha, or hyūga clan you're basically born at a disadvantage in their world.
but truth to be told, it was an entirely great anime the villains were not just strong but purposeful, and each villain has his role to play in the storyline and the growth of the characters themselves.
the backstories were one of the best. we saw Kakashi and Guy's back story, we say Jiraiya's backstory, Itachi's backstory, and many others which then compounded into one big epic ball of information, action, and epic fight in its final arc. each even had meaning from the beginning ideas well planned and thought out... it is indeed a truly great anime.
I just see it a bit differently now.
