anime villains are necessary for any mainstream action/thriller/sci-fi anime. one would even say an anime without the right kind of villain won't be good enough. the villains affect how the animes' storyline goes, they also greatly affect the main characters and mostly exist based on conflicting ideologies.
in this post, we will be looking at 10 anime villains who greatly affect their storyline or the chapter based on what we've seen so far.
I'll also clarify that this is not a post about the top 10 strongest/fastest/smartest anime villains. I think 🤔 it's right to use the term iconic villains because that would properly encompass the post.
without further ado
THE TOP 10 MOST ICONIC ANIME VILLAINS
10. ALL FOR ONE
All for one is a man hungry for power and is willing to do whatever it takes to get it. In a world where most people have certain quirks/abilities, he possesses the ability to steal quirks... of course an evil quirk made for an evil person.
to cut the long story short, he wants to get his brother's quirk; the only quirk that can defeat him. and is willing to harm or use anyone to get it.
9. BRYAN HAWK
I really tried to remove sports from the characters listed but this guy just needs to be classified as a villain because of his characteristics.
what does it mean to have innate power, to be born physically above others? Bryan hawk is just that: and he uses it in the world of boxing, he hardly trains and spends most of his time with women.
after Takamura's fight with wells, he came Into the changing room and provoked Takamura but when Takamura threw a punch he casually caught it and responded "it was a mere handshake"
he not also insulted Takamura but also insulted all Japanese boxers saying that their women should sleep with him in other to breed better boxers.
hawk was dethroned and was rendered mentally unable to step into the ring. again
8. DOFLAMINGO
One piece has a high number of villains... you can expect that much from a show with over a thousand episodes. but there's one villain who stood out from the rest, at least to me. doflamingo had the typical childhood trauma story but that wasn't what made him evil.
he is a person who deems himself superior to normal people. the donquixote family was one of the twenty royal families affiliated with the world government.
that wasn't even the most shocking part. even after doflamingo was persecuted as a child, hung, and beaten... as the was about to be killed he still swore to kill every one of them, and trust me he did just that.
not only did he kill his father for renouncing his noble title he also killed his brother for working with the marines.
he took over dressrosa eight years before the start of the series. anyone who was against him was turned into toys who would work their entire lives till they eventually die while not being remembered by anyone again. he made it so that the town seemed peaceful in front but behind the scene were treacherous deeds.
he also caused a scene where he controlled the soldiers to attack and kill the citizens and appeared to stop them to that he would be recognized as the hero.
All in all, doflamingo might be an evil entity but he still cares greatly for his kin as a pirate should.
I recognized him as an iconic villain because I feel that not all villains should have a valid reason for their deeds. and doflamingo superiority, power, and ego go perfectly well with the entire storyline.
7. TOUICHIROU SUZUKI
when we talk about egotistical villains this guy is in his own league. Touichirou Suzuki is the villain from mob psycho 100. after realizing his abilities he began to use them as he pleases not only was he good with his powers, but he was also strong. he went around the world defeating other espers and planning world domination not until he met Kageyama.
6. GAROU
Garou is a character from one punch man who calls himself "the hero killer" due to his view on the imbalances n what is referred to as good and evil/ hero and villain he chooses to become someone who would bring down the current system of heroes.
Garou was not just a skilled martial artist he was the best student of silver fang. he was able to defeat all the other students with ease and even began to beat other S-class heroes. his talent was exceptional he could easily replicate any kind of martial art or movement just by seeing it once. and after becoming a demon he became far more dangerous. the best thing about Garou as a villain was the fact that he is currently the only character known to have pushed Saitama to a point where he would have to improve mid-fight.
5. KIBUTSUJI MUZAN
muzan is a character from the anime "kimetsu no yaiba" and he is a demon that rules over other demons... kind of like a demon king by not exactly. he has absolute authority over other demons and controls them as he, pleases. the most iconic thing about muzan is not just about his power but his sheer cruelty: he is not only cruel to humans but also demons. if they so much as think a thought that is not pleasing to him, they die. it's so difficult to stay on his pleasing side. but still, his history with the demon slayers makes him a perfectly iconic villain
4. RYO ASUKA
Ryo Asuka is a rare kind of major villain. he is a character from the anime "devil man crybaby" and he is the best friend of the main character "fudo Akira". he is the whole reason fudo got his powers in the first place.
the funny part is the fact that Ryo was not the villain at the beginning of the series but as he did more research he discovered that he is indeed satan.
his actions led to the fall out of humanity and even the battle with his friend, Akira which eventually led to him killing his friend and destroying the earth and all its inhabitants.
3. DIAVOLO
don't get me wrong " Jojo's bizarre adventure" is basically a spawn for villains. but Diavolo stands out because not only was his stand immensely powerful but he was also smart and cautious such that he was willing to kill his own daughter to clear his trails.
2. MISOGI KUMAGAWA
misogi kumagawa is known to have now emotions, hope or fear. his first appearance was in medaka box abnormal. where he was supposedly standing in a pile of dead bodies. he is what one would refer to as the complete epitome of a villain. not only is he an iconic villain but he has the power to go with that character. he is basically a walking chest code. his ability is called All fiction and it allows him to do anything.
1. GRIFFITH
Griffith is the leader of the band of hawks and the closest friend and leader to guts. his actions were just too cruel but what makes him different from other villains was the amount of suffering he faced. not just anybody can be alive after facing such. one can assume that all these led him to do what he did but still, his suffering cannot justify the suffering hr caused others.
