We all know Itachi's backstory; he was the first child of Mikoto and Fugaku Uchiha and because he was born in a war-stricken time, he grew to become a pacifist, not only that he was a genius who became an Anbu at age 11 whereas most people can’t even pass chunin exams at that age.
Itachi murdered his entire clan for the sake of peace. that is what we all believed to be right but in the real sense, there is a lot of things wrong with that decision of his.
First of all, the Uchiha’s were not evil, they have been mistreated for a long time just because they possessed great power. Imagine being mistreated for long just for something you had no intention of having…...sounds familiar doesn’t it? Yes, Naruto passed through the exact same thing but in this case, the Uchiha’s had been suffering for generations and generations so much that they were isolated to the edge of the village and blamed for the nine tail fox attack on the Konoha village. The Uchiha’s didn’t even randomly attack, they planned a coup; which if you think of it, there’s nothing wrong with a coup after all they were in a world of ninja’s it shouldn’t be that strange for a coup to occur.
The major issue here is not just the reason why he killed his clan but the fact that he killed his clan. That is to tell you that the real villain was not just the ones that were killed but the one that did the killing. He murdered brothers, sisters, children, husbands, wives, friends, and other people who has absolutely nothing to do with the coup. Just imagine what it was like to go around murdering people’s children, one year old’s, two-year old’s and unsuspecting people all because you wanted to bring peace.
Doesn’t it remind you of what’s going on in today’s world with so many serial killers spouting nonsense about peace but the truth is that death has never brought peace, it has never and it will never? The fact that itachi murdered people for what they had no hand in just makes him a serial killer and not a hero.
The worst part of all was that he spared his brother, he allowed him to see the death of his parents to make him a stronger person. that is just messed up in more ways than one; that is what most people of today would call sadistic. I’m sure he felt like a hero allowing his brother to pass through both physical and emotional pain.
In the ending, he allowed his brother, to kill him. He was greatly mistaken if he thought his life would be enough payback for the many lives he took.
Itachi is not as smart as people give him credit for
When you think of it, itachi was only a genius at combat he isn't in any way smart. The fact that he was said to think like a Hokage at a very young age was only making emphasis the fact that he loves peace. He hasn’t outsmarted any opponent and yet he is treated like some big shot. He wasn’t even smart enough to know when he was being deceived by Danzo, meaning he killed his family for nothing, a wasted effort while wasting lives in the process just how dumb is that. I’m positive that if it was Shikamaru given that position, he would have found a better solution. Even if it was Naruto himself he wouldn’t accept the killing of an entire clan because of the sins of a few individuals.
