Just as we need spices in our foods, we also need a bit of shocking experience to spice up what we are watching. But betrayals in anime can be so brutal and heartbreaking….it is usually someone you don’t expect that ends up betraying, either it carries good or bad intention or it’s simply a manipulation from the very beginning what we’re looking at is the fact that trust has been betrayed.
10. Malty betrayed Naofumi
From the popular anime series “rise of the shield hero” emerges a lady; the kings very own daughter who pretended to become an acquaintance to Noafumi for the very purpose of making him suffer, she did so by falsely accusing him of attempted rape and she did succeed in completely ruining his life. Noafumi was then abandoned by the very nation he came to save because of a false accusation and despite all his attempts to explain, it proved futile as no one was willing to listen to him and hence, he became an outcast to the nation and his fellow heroes simply because of Malty’s petty betrayal.
9. Sasuke betrayed the leaf village
Sasuke has always been a strong fighter, but it seems that no matter how he tried, it still won’t be enough. So he betrayed his village. Seems like quite a simple scenario but it isn’t. Sasuke betrayed the leaf village by leaving to become a subordinate to the very enemy of that village (Orochimaru), he did so because he wanted power, power to surpass Naruto, power that surpasses the leaf ninja’s and most especially, the power that would be able to kill his own brother (Itachi).
8. Itachi betrayed his clan
And now I’ll explain the whole story. Itachi was one would refer to as a child prodigy, he was so good he could learn every move just by seeing it once and be greater than his tutor. But he was born in war-filled times, giving him the sense of the need to achieve peace. He soon learned that his clan was planning a coup d’état to take control of the leaf village. In his want for peace, he made a deal to kill all the members of his clan except for his younger brother, Sasuke. The reason why Sasuke betrayed kohona village was to take revenge on his brother who betrayed his clan.
7. Walter betrayed Integra
Of all people to betray, no one would expect a butler to betray his master, after all, they are to most loyal and trustworthy members of a household. Walter is a man who has served the intergra family for a long time, probably throughout his life, so the idea of betrayal came as a huge shock to all of us. Alucard said that his fear of becoming old and useless and desire to prove his abilities to himself by killing Alucard is what drove him to his betrayal.
6. Sosuke Aizen betrayed the soul society
Aizen is a soul reaper and the captain of the fifth squad. Aizen’s betrayal was one of the biggest shocks in anime history and it was just too unexpected. Ichigo came to the soul society to rescue Rukia from her brother who wanted to execute her for breaking the rules of the soul society. Little did we know that this was Aizen’s plot, he was skimming in the background from the very beginning. He aimed to get the hogyoku which was inside Rukia to become the strongest he betrayed the soul society.
5. Blackbeard betrayed white beard
Blackbeard is one very sinister character that is despised by almost everyone watching one piece. One could remember how he was begging and pleading for whitebeard to take him in, he was begging to be a member of the whitebeard pirates, to become part of the family that whitebeard desired so much and he threw it away by killing his crewmate, his own family for a Devil fruit. Allegedly making him a traitor.
4. Racheal betrayed Bam
At this point on the list, things have gotten personal. This is probably the most annoying betrayal I have ever seen in anime. I mean…others are shocking this is just plain annoying. Bam was a simp over the girl. He went into a tower with various floors that can kill him just to find the girl who he holds as his closest and most trustworthy companion. She betrayed bam by pushing him to kill him, she did so because she thought that Bam’s very existence made her less significant, she hated why everything was about Bam and why everyone was closer to Bam she thinks that bam stole her very role from her. The painful part was the fact that she still betrayed bam after an all-out apology. Scums do exist.
3. Ryo betrayed Fudo Akira
Ryo is a person who Fudo puts all his trust in, he is even the one who turned fudo into a devil man then went ahead after realizing that he is Satan decided to destroy the world and thereby killed his own best friend. As simple as this may sound, it is indeed a touching story.
2. Reiner and Bertolt’s reveals their identity
In the ‘attack on titan,’ world titans are the only source of the problem from the very beginning the colossal and the armored titan attacked the gate of the first district allowing titans to enter inside and cause destruction. They were the ones who ruined over one hundred years of safety from the titans then they came in and pretended to be soldiers who fight against titans. Their actions caused the death of many including the death of Eren’s mother.
1. Griffith betrayed the band of Hawks
While Griffith was very strong he also had great ambition. His band of mercenaries had absolute faith in him especially Guts. When Griffith’s affair with the princess was found out he was imprisoned and tortured but when the band of Hawks came to his rescue, it was already too late; as what they found was a shell of himself drained. As they escaped Griffith activated the crimson beheilt initiating one of the most gruesome betrayals in anime. He sacrificed his band to become a god. The gruesome part was not just that he did it but how he did it; they were killed, eaten by monsters as they scream he only watched them die. He even raped his second in command the only two survivors then lived in the complete tragedy of being hunted by demons for the rest of their lives.
