the plot of my hero academia has gone a long way, with its characters, and one of them is the all popular villain dabi. dabi was originally known as Toya Todoroki....and yes, he was the son of endeavor, but that is not the truly sad part. dabi didn't go through what shoto did, in fact, he was willing to go through what his little brother did.
endeavor has always wanted to surpass All might and become the number one hero, but he couldn't. he then got the idea that if he couldn't surpass All might he will create someone who will. that was when we went and bought his wife for the sole purpose of creating a better quirk. when toya was born his hair was all red just like his father which shown, he had inherited most of his father's genes and of course, he also possessed a flame quirk, but sadly that was not what endeavor was looking for. then they gave birth to Fuyumi todoroki, but she still wasn't right as she possessed mainly her mother's genes. that was when endeavor decided to train Toya and to let him inherit the burning desire to be the number one.
for months, they kept on training and building Toya's quirk to be better than endeavor's but at one point toya fire burnt him burnt him and when they went to the doctor, he explained to them that toya had not inherited any resilience to fire but to ice his mother's quirk. endeavor then encouraged toya to give up on his dream that he would never be able to reach it. it was around then that shoto was born, with the perfect generic modulation of both his father and mother.
But still toya kept on training but this would get endeavor really angry as toya kept burning himself while training, toya began to believe that he was a failure and that the very purpose in which he was born for, he is unable to achieve it. of course toya lashed out at the one person he thinks is at fault, Shoto. he moved to attack shoto but was beaten down by endeavor.
toya then began to live a relatively normal life with his siblings, until five years later, when it was shown that all that was just a facade and that he has been secretly training. toya then learned that his power is related to his emotions; the more emotion he feels the stronger his flames and it was during puberty that his flames changed from red to blue. the young boy was delighted and wanted to show his father that he wasn't a failure, that his existence has a purpose, that he can still achieve his dreams. he invited endeavor to the training ground in other to display his growth over the years. but sadly endeavor never showed up, that was when he came to a realization that his own father, the one he looked up to, has abandoned him, it was then all that emotions burst into flames and him being unable to control it was burned to nothingness.
